Large Scale Tile Trend

At Creative Homes, one of our favorite motivational quotes is “Go big or go home!”. Typically, this is said as a reflection of our core value, “Good isn’t good enough”. When we are selecting tile in the design studio, we are quite literally going BIG!

Typically, the largest tile that we have been able to select from is a 12x24”. This is an industry wide standard size that many homeowners love. With new manufacturing capabilities, the newest available size is a large scale 24x48” tile. This is quadruple the size of our favorite 12x24” go-to size! Our design studio is excited and inspired by this for a handful of reasons.

If you like to tour our model homes or search though interior design trends online, you might notice that interior designers are loving waterfall countertop edges, quartz backsplashes and quartz slabs as shower walls. When designing a bathroom or a kitchen, it is so fun to design around the beautiful movement of the veining in a stone look material. The dynamic patterning is what makes stone look materials so fun to embrace! Quartz countertops bring a natural and flowing pattern into your home that (until now) no other material does. We are loving the extra large scale porcelain tile for all the same reasons that we love a waterfall edge in the kitchen. This tile lets the gorgeous movement of the stone do all the talking!

An extra large scale porcelain like this is an unparalleled aesthetic. It truly does give such a high end feel to any design. Whether you have a super clean/contemporary style, or a classic/traditional style, a large scale tile like this feels high-fashion. The largeness of the tile gives a visually expansive effect to your space.

Below is a sneak-peek of the tile and finishes that we plan to use in the Owners Bath in our next model home! We are using the “Torano Dorado” color in a gloss finish on the bathroom floor and shower walls. We are so excited to see the mirroring gloss finish of the tile give a reflecting effect all over the bathroom.

While we predict that this tile will most commonly be used in a bathroom application, it can certainly be used in places like a mudroom floor, a fireplace, a wet bar backsplash or anywhere else your heart desires. We thank our partners at The Tile Shop for making sure that Creative Homes has amazing options like this. We have gloss, matte, light and dark options that offer so much variety for so many different uses. Are you inspired yet!? Go check out The Tile Shop and see which one is your favorite!

I really enjoyed the weekly calls with the builder. It made me feel like I knew what progress was happening during the build, and really set a tone of trust with the builder that I wasn't expecting. I found those conversations, even when very short, to be extremely helpful in staying calm during the build process.
